Many woodworkers and craftsmen are unclear as to what the router can actually achieve. Then again, those with just a little experience of the router are unaware of the true versatility of this machine! Irrespective of your routing experience, you will be amazed at what you can achieve and do... simple tricks and dodges to achieve professional results in just a short time and all under professional tuition.

Courses can be arranged either at my own well equiped workshop facility in Norwich or, if you prefer, at the Cambridge Workshop of Mackay's of Cambridge Ltd.

The normal content of my 1 Day and 2 Day courses are as shown below although these can of course be flexibly configured towards the needs and experience of those attending.

In addition, Jig Making courses can be arranged at my Norwich based workshop. Click here for details.

One and Two Day
RouterCourses

Day 1

"Basic Routing Course"

This one day course will consist of an introduction to the Router and the basic routine techniques to quickly achieve professional results. The use of the Router along with the essential safety aspects are fully covered.

You will learn how to use cutters correctly; which ones to use for what purpose and and how to set and care for them.

The principles of free hand routing will be covered as well as full instruction on the correct and safe use of the Router Table. For example, you will be instructed in creating "edge moulding", making "biscuit joints", "tennoning" and how to make correct "rebates".

The emphasis is on "hands on" instruction and to this end you will be guided on a small project which you can take home with you afterwards to act as a practical reminder of the techniques used.

Day 2

"Advanced Routing Course"

This day is aimed at the ambitious amateur and is an ideal follow-on from the One Day course outlined above (Day 1). Here we take the art of routing one step further and in particular, in the use of the various jigs.

You will be tutored in the use of the "Router Carver" which creates fantastic and intricate wood carvings in just minutes without needing any wood carving skills at all!.

The use of other jigs is also covered... for example, the new circle cutter which allows you to create large circles right down to 25mm circles. The "Oval Jig" is another ingenious device which opens up many new applications for the router. Learn how to make "Key Hole slots" to enable you to hang pictures and mirror frames flush to the wall. And then... perhaps the most versatile cutter of all... the "Profile Scribe Cutter" which will allow you to make professional quality cabinet doors and panels.

The versatility of the router is truly unbelievable and it is not surprising that most who have used routers have only explored 20% of the router's true capability!

So... why waste valuable time and effort muddling through when, with correct "hands-on" tutoring you could be up there with the professionals and making life easier and more rewards as well!
